Vanessa Chang builds communities and conversations about art, technology, people, and planet. She is Director of Programs at Leonardo, the International Society for the Arts, Sciences, and Technology. She earned a Ph.D. in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University, and has taught in Visual & Critical Studies at California College of the Arts. Chang has curated exhibitions and public programs at venues including SFMOMA, the Bell Center for Art + Technology (UC Irvine), SOMArts, Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, and the Midway. Her work has been featured in Art in America, Science Magazine, and On the Media, and her writing has appeared in Slate, Wired, and the Los Angeles Review of Books, among other platforms. Her first book, The Body Digital: A Brief History of Humans and Machines from Cuckoo Clocks to ChatGPT, was published in November 2025.
